Completed Projects

  • In 1996, Emilio & Ester Battz began the construction of their school.  Even before Proyecto Fe was incorporated in 1998, Alaskans were sending funds from the beginning, to help with the construction costs of the school.  In 2000, Colegio Evangelico Bethel, a Christian school with the enrolling ability of approximately 400 children, was completed with the support of Proyecto Fe contributions and numerous mission trip construction labor efforts.
  • To date, Proyecto Fe has helped build approximately 23 churches in the mountains surrounding Lake Atitlan and continues to support 39 mountain churches by providing pastor training, conferences, and retreats.
  • By the end of 2003, six homes have been built with the assistance of our short term mission trip volunteers and financial support.  These homes were built for families in desperate need.
  • Proyecto Fe partners with Alaska Medical Missions to bring much needed medical supplies to Guatemala.  In 2005, 2,803.7 pounds of medical supplies were brought down by Proyecto Fe's short term mission trips.  These medical supplies were delivered by volunteer missionaries in lieu of their own personal luggage.  Proyecto Fe is committed to bring as much medical supplies as possible to help fill the need in Guatemala for these items.
  • In 2004, Proyecto Fe assumed the responsibility of the child sponsorship program for the students in attendance of Colegio Evangelico Bethel School.  At that time, only 115 children of the 310 enrolled were sponsored by Proyecto Fe supporters.  To date, all except for approximately 30 of the 350-plus children at Colegio Evangelico Bethel have been sponsored.  Please see our kids needing sponsors on this website if you are interested in learning more about our child sponsorship program.
  • Proyecto Fe has contributed to associate ministries, such as Sombra de Sus Alas (Shadow of His Wings), an orphanage that provides a home for abused girls and several with special needs.  In 2004, Proyecto Fe participated in the purchase of 10 acres of land that ultimately will provide housing and administration for 200 girls.
  • In 2005, Proyecto Fe was able to have all the children in Colegio Evangelico Bethel school receive dental care.  This was the first time most of the children had visited a dentist.  Proyecto Fe supporters contributed approximately $70,000 of the $75,000 dental care costs.
  • Proyecto Fe sent immediate monetary funds for the relief of those devastated by Hurricane Stan which hit Guatemala in October 2005.
  • In 2006, Proyecto Fe approved proposals for long term hurricane relief to rebuild and replenish economic stability in areas devastated by Hurricane Stan in 2006.  These proposals include programs to provide economic recovery to 165 families in Guatemala, the rebuilding a section of a road that linked two villages, the rebuiling of a church & pastor home, and relieving the suffering of those impacted by Hurricane Stan.
  • To date in 2007, Proyecto Fe has sponsored more than 25 pastor conferences & training sessions in the mountain churches.
  • In February of 2007, Proyecto Fe has set up a webpage that partners with another ministry, Leadership for Africa, for child sponsorship of children in Swaziland.
  • On 2/11/2007, generous donors & sponsors of Proyecto Fe raised funds to start a feeding program & bible lessons for impoverished children in Haiti.
  • In April 2008, 1,150 pounds of medical supplies were transported from Anchorage to Guatemala for Alaska Medical Mission.

On-Going & Future Projects

  • In 2003, Proyecto Fe became aware of the need for another school in Panyebar, a village in the mountains above Lake Atitlan.  Although Proyecto Fe is not as involved with the building of the new school as it was with Colegio Evangelico Bethel, Proyecto Fe has encouraged and provided both financial support and short term missionary labor to assist in the completion of the construction as well as providing a channel for child sponsorship.  To date in 2006, over 40% of the building of Colegio Bethel-Panyebar is complete.
  • During 2005, the majority of the work on the building of the medical/dental clinic in San Pedro La Laguna, was completed.  In both 2006 and 2007, we are focused on the completion of the septic system for the clinic, furnishing the clinic with medical & dental equipment, and completing the interior construction work.
  • In 2006, Proyecto Fe sent the first mission teams to assist with the building of the Home for  the Elderly in San Pedro, La Laguna.  This home is designed to house the elderly who are homeless and with out the support of family.  The construction work is on going for 2007.
  • During 2006, Proyecto Fe partnered with another ministry operating in Guatemala City, San Cristobal.  This group home is a special home for disabled and abused girls.  Proyecto Fe is in the process of setting up sponsorship of the girls who live in the home.  The biographies on each girl will be available on the website this Fall 2006.  If you heart is moved to help these special girls, please prayerfully consider building a long term mentor relationship with one of the girls through child sponsorship.
  • During the summer of 2006, Proyecto Fe partnered with Powerhouse Church in Chennai, India by creating a new fund, Visuvasa Thittam (Project Faith in the Tamil language, an Indian dialect) to help the ministry efforts of this church.  Our one year commitment ended in Dec of 2007.
  • At this time, Proyecto Fe is working with Alaska Medical Missions and the US military to fly down a large cargo plane of medical instruments, medical equipment & much needed supplies to Guatemala.
  • In 2007, Proyecto Fe is looking into funding a feeding program for impoverished children in Haiti.  Future programs may include the re-opening of a school in this rural area.
  • In 2008, Proyecto Fe will be partnering with Helps International to place Onil Stoves in needy homes. These stoves will prevent excessive smoke in homes, assure better health and prevent children falling into open fires.
  • In Feb 2008, Our first team installed 13 Onil Stoves. The stoves are life changing for the families. The recipient families were so thankful and grateful. This connection with the families will mean additional opportunities to show God's hands and feet to non Christians.
  • In Feb 2008, the dedication of 500 new library books at Colegio Bethel in San Pedro was welcomed with tears and joy. This was possible through donnations at the 2007 Auction.
  • In March 2008, the FCC team installed 15 Onil Stoves. They also were able to distribute rice, beans, and Bibles to the families who recieved stoves.
  • In April 2008, the Heritage School Mission team installed 27 Onil Stoves. They also delivered rice, beans, fire wood and bibles to the homes who recieved stoves.
